Country Bridal Shoot – Chipping Ongar – Low light test inside Greensted Church

Jemma and Lucy kindly offered to shoot this set with me ready for some vintage and country wedding themes Roy Strutt Photography have for this year
It was also a test for the new amazing Canon 5D MkIII and its low light capabilities
The portraits were taken in a local church at dusk on a grey rainy day – I used the Canon on auto ISO – AV mode with an upper limit of ISO 12800 – using jpeg rather than RAW to test the capabilities

First some outside work

These were from the church – It was very dim inside the church but the upper windows allowed some directional light – with careful positioning I was able to light Jemma sufficiently – It was extreme though – the images below were taken at f2.8 – f3.2 – aperture priority – Auto ISO gave ISO 12800 – shutter speed around 1/40 to 1/80th – this would have been impossible a few years ago

Hi Roy,Amazing images especially those taken inside. Are you now saying good-bye to flash guns etc?

Hi John – Many thanks – flash is used much less now – I have a small handheld LED daylight lamp to fill in shadows sometimes but a reflector is more useful – High ISO it opens up many new opportunities !
